Winter Lake Academy for the Arts is an independent boarding school for the arts located in Winter Lake, Massachusetts. Located 20 miles from Boston proper, Winter Lake (referred to by its students as "The Academy") currently serves students from 40 states and 20 different countries.

History and Programs[edit | edit source]

Founded in 1925, Winter Lake Academy was founded as the Winter Lake School for the Advancement of Exceptional Women. Though arts were always of utmost importance at Winter Lake, the school did not become a conservatory-style program until 1960 and was not coeducational until 1965.

High School Curriculum[edit | edit source]

In addition to a rigorous college-preparatory academic curriculum, students choose one of six arts in which to "major." Options include theater, dance, creative writing, visual arts, music, and culinary arts (a new major as of the 2015-2016 school year).
